I’d say he did a great job of describing his path to becoming a survivor, but I’m sure you know a few other quotes that can be attributed to the Marine. When he says “There is no greater comfort than to have lived your life not as a victim, but as a survivor” he sounds like he was thinking out the implications of that statement, and how it’s a great thing to live your life as a survivor.
As for the quote, I say it’s a good one because it seems to suggest that a person can live their life not only as a victim but as a survivor. For Pat to say that, it would mean he was dealing with a horrific tragedy, and so, he would be using that phrase with an emphasis on survivor.
It feels like the same idea is being expressed in that quote, but, a survivor who survived a horrible, terrifying event. Survivors are not the ones who can get over something, or even understand what happened, it is the ones who live through it with a sense of humor. I can’t help but think that Pat’s quote seems to be saying he’s trying to deal with the aftermath of the tragedy, and, at the same time, he seems to say that’s a great thing.
I think it’s great that Pats and Colt are having fun with their grief. It is sad that they seem to be unable to deal with the aftermath of their horrible tragedy. It also feels like the idea of the survivor is the same idea as the amnesiac. The survival instinct that allows us to keep going after we have the worst of the bad happens in the same way that the amnesiac survival instinct helps a person get over the trauma of not knowing what happened.
The survivor may not know what he or she lost, but we know what we lost. The amnesiac survivor may not come back to reality, but he or she can always find the way back to reality. The survivor can be an addict, a deadbeat, or a sadist. The amnesiac survivor can turn into someone who is the victim of a crime, or someone who thinks she is the victim of a crime. The survivor may even be a murderer.
And the amnesiac survivor can be a real person or an avatar. The amnesiac survivor can be a friend or an enemy. The survivor can be the victim of a crime or someone who is the victim of a crime. The survivor can be a father or a mother. The survivor can be a friend or a foe. The survivor can be a cop or a villain. The survivor can be a father or a mother. The survivor can be the victim or the perpetrator.
